Note to former Org members

Insecurities.org is a domain with a history. I'm a (very small) part of that history myself, having had an email forwarding account here for lo very many years, but that was pretty much all i ever did here. I never had any very close interactions with any of the other folks who were insecurities.org, except Eq, and him only barely and long ago.

But that doesn't mean i want that history to be forgotten, necessarily. If you've had an account at — or, really, anything at all to do with — insecurities before, feel free to contact me (lynx) and tell your story. I can set you up with an account here, if you want one, or just lend an archivist's ear to your tales of who and what's been insecure in days gone by. I'm a sucker for sentimental, nostalgic stuff like that.

Oldbies always welcome, in other words. The virtual pub is open.

When Eq. ran the site I was a guest blogger for a few months. And then shortly thereafter he killed the blog and shut down nearly the entire site. Was it something i wrote??

Why i got the domain

You'd have to ask Eq about exactly why he shut down the site. I was under the impression he had become steadily more disaffected with it since Aion's death, but that's going on very little i could call at all solid, and could be a total misapprehension on my part.

In other news, i'm finally learning something about how Drupal comments work. Don't use Drupal unless you're sure you need its full powers for whatever you're planning. its learning curve resembles the space shuttle's flight path, and you run a similar risk of your head exploding.

Which is all a fancy excuse for, "i hadn't noticed your comments were sitting there waiting for approval because i didn't know where i ought to have been looking for them". Now i know.

I can't particularly remember

I can't particularly remember closing the Weblog. Over the longer term I just lost interest in maintaining it, and/or the other members did.

Former members

Here is the probably complete list of former members, other than myself (Eq); this only includes people who had Web pages, and isn't in chronological order.

* Aestival, an alias of the award-winning UK Weblogger Green Fairy, latterly known as Jack Pandemian.
* Aion, real name Leena, who died in 2001 and whose pages are archived on ashspace.
* Darkling, a.k.a. Stilvoid, who is now in the metal band If Fire Would Fall.
* Jenwolf, another asher.
* Natasha, an ex-girlfriend of mine.
* OHJ (the Oligarchist Home Journal), a sort of absurdist publication. Its creator, Todd Burns, went on to create the music review site Stylus Magazine.
* Poppy, now back at tress.sdf-eu.org
* [__], who has dropped off my radar; at one point he was hoping for a self-sufficient agricultural existence. I have a zip archive of his old site if anyone's curious.

Enigma

I forgot about Enigma, to my discredit. She was the last org member... popped up from somewhere wanting a site, and I remember (because she was a teenage girl with a bit of a fancy Web page layout) thinking that perhaps it was the wrong place for her, too serious and dark and non-cosmetic. But we talked about it and I changed my mind.

I can't remember her name, annoyingly -- it began with A and was something unusual and pretty -- but she lived in the Netherlands and was originally from the Antilles; I remember we talked a few times about her upbringing and how she believed in things like voodoo that were bizarre to me.

In November 2005 Enigma told me she was planning to die. We spoke on the phone (no, I don't remember the number, and it was her abusive brother's phone anyway) and I never heard from her after that.

Others, and spam

You wouldn't happen to remember who Akuchi is/was, would you? she (i'm assuming, from some of the spam) is the intended recipient victim of most of the spam that insecurities.org accumulates... Darkling's probably in the #2 spot.

Akuchi just had an e-mail

Akuchi just had an e-mail account. I think she posts on ash as "Avalanche" now.

Yes, she posts occasionally

Yes, she posts occasionally to a.s.m (i've not checked ash proper in years).
